The Recipe: Red, White, and Blue Frozen Delights
Ingredients:
– 1 cup organic strawberries, hulled and chopped
– 1 cup organic blueberries
– 1 cup organic unsweetened coconut milk (make sure it’s pet-friendly)
– 2 tablespoons organic honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions:
1. In a blender, puree the strawberries until smooth. Set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, mash the blueberries using a fork until you achieve a chunky consistency. Set aside.
3. Pour the coconut milk into a bowl and whisk in the honey or maple syrup, if desired, for a touch of sweetness.
4. Fill your popsicle molds or ice cube trays with alternating layers of the strawberry puree, mashed blueberries, and coconut milk mixture.
5. Insert popsicle sticks or small dog-friendly bones into the molds and freeze for at least 4 hours or until solid.
6. Once frozen, remove the treats from the molds and let them thaw slightly before serving.

- Approach the holiday with up-to-date records. Be sure they have their collars on and that the microchipping company they’re associated with has the most current contact information for you.
- Reduce pet anxiety by keeping close to them. Sit on the couch or someplace close to them and give reassuring touches and love as you tell them they’re safe.
- Stay calm and try not to be reactive to the loud noises yourself. They’re prone to following your behavior and cues.
- Stay inside with them. As tempting as it may be to go outside, it’s best to stay with them and watch the festivities from inside to help them feel more secure.
- Lastly, if they do get lose post pictures as quickly as possible on social media sites like NextDoor, Facebook, community pages and even send in an electronic report to your local area pet shelters. Those that don’t have that feature, send in an email with a photo and do a follow up phone call before you head down to the facility.
